Cameron J. Czaja’s Worst Films of the 2010s

Now that I covered my top five films of the 2010s, I will now share with you my five worst films of this past decade. These are five films that not only had no value whatsoever, but were films that left a bad impression. They shouldn’t be seen if you haven’t already. Anyway, let’s start with number five and work our way up to number one.

The Last Airbender – If you loved watching the Nickelodeon show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, then you know why I strongly despise this live action adaptation. It’s a poorly made film that feels cramped with story elements and has total disregard for the original source material. The ultimate disappointing film of the 2010s.

The Emoji Movie – Before I saw The Emoji Movie, I immediately knew I was going to strongly dislike it due to the awful trailer. After a while, though, I felt a bit guilty because in general I always give a film the benefit of the doubt before I see it no matter how bad the trailer may be. After watching it, however, my negative pre-conceived thoughts towards the film were justified as it was a prime example of everything wrong with big budget animated films produced in Hollywood these days. I just find it hard to believe that the same company that made this made Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse a year and a half later.

Fifty Shades of Grey – How bad does your film have to be to make you want to appreciate the Twilight franchise? It has to be Fifty Shades of Grey bad. Not only is it a terrible film due to the mistreatment of women, but the filmmaking here is one of the worst that I have ever seen coming from a major studio this past decade. Fortunately, when the film came out it was early in the year and there was no other film that topped it from being the worst of that year.

Movie 43 – What do you get when you have a bunch of A-list celebrities in comedic segments in the style of Saturday Night Live? You would get a very funny film, right? Unfortunately, we got the opposite of that with each celebrity embarrassing themselves in unfunny skits that were cringe-worthy to watch and humor that almost made this Catholic walk out of the theater. Fortunately, this movie didn’t beat me and I was able to finish this horrible film.

InAppropriate Comedy – If you’re thinking to yourself what be can be worse than Movie 43, I present to you InAppropriate Comedy. If I had seen this in a theater I probably would have walked out of it, but I was foolish enough to rent it to see how bad it. It was worse than I imagined. Oddly enough, this has the same premise as Movie 43, only it’s much worse due to having jokes (and I use that word lightly) that were sexist, racist, and just plain unfunny. I have to go back and look at all the films that I’ve seen in the past, but as of right now this has the title for being the worst film that I’ve ever seen.

So there they are, my worst films of the 2010s, and I hope none of you subject yourselves to them. Hopefully, the the films I watch this decade aren’t as bad as these.
