A New Way to Support The Legionnaire

Since launching The Legionnaire, I have had the pleasure of sharing my thoughts on movies from across the history of cinema. The site has allowed me not only to discuss filmmaking, performances, and storytelling, but also to examine what films tell us about human dignity, virtue, sacrifice, sin, redemption, and our longing for truth.

As a Catholic writer, I believe that art matters. The stories we tell can illuminate what is true, good, and beautiful—or obscure it. My purpose with The Legionnaire has therefore been to evaluate films thoughtfully through the lens of the Catholic faith while recognizing and celebrating genuine artistic achievement wherever it is found.

Today, I am introducing a new way for readers to support that work.

I have created a page on Ko-fi, a platform that allows readers to contribute directly to independent creators. Anyone who values The Legionnaire, or my historical, cultural, and fictional writing, can now leave a one-time tip or provide monthly support.

Nothing about the regular operation of The Legionnaire is changing. My reviews will remain available to everyone, and no reader should feel obligated to contribute. Reading the site, commenting on reviews, sharing articles, recommending The Legionnaire to others, and praying for its success are all meaningful forms of support.

For those who would like to contribute financially, Ko-fi offers two options. Readers can leave a one-time tip in any amount, or they can join the Legionnaire Circle for a minimum of $5 per month.

Members of the Legionnaire Circle will receive exclusive content, behind-the-scenes updates, opportunities to make requests, and access to the Ko-fi community. This might include early looks at upcoming work, observations that do not develop into full reviews, discussions of the writing process, or other material connected to my film criticism and creative projects.

Writing is both work and, in its own way, a vocation. Researching, watching, reflecting, writing, editing, publishing, and maintaining a website all require time. Reader support can help me devote more of that time to producing independent work informed by the Catholic faith and directed toward the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Whether you choose to contribute, share this announcement, offer a prayer, or simply continue reading, please know that I am grateful. The Legionnaire would have little purpose without the readers who have accompanied it.

May God bless you, and thank you for being part of this work.
